The First team travelled to Enfield Town who play in the Women's National League in the County Cup today. Today saw a change in tactics for the first team which worked perfectly until a free kick to Enfield on the edge of the box just before half time went in.
We frustrated the Enfield side and they were fortunate to go 1-0 up before half time.
We come out in the second half and quickly got a goal back within the first minute thanks to a fantastic strike on the edge of the centre circle from Kim Pendred which rocketed into the top corner.
Unfortunately as the game went on, it opened up more space for the opposition and they found themselves in good areas providing the crosses for their runners in the box to tap it past our keeper to give them a 4-1 lead.
We continued to threaten all the way , with a few great opportunities which came to nothing however on 87 minutes Katie Akerman was able to capitalise on an Enfield defensive error and slot home our 2nd of the game.
Unfortunately it was not enough and the game ended 4-2.
I believe we are doing the right things in games with a few tweeks , results will start to fall our way. We have a talented and young squad who still have a lot to give and show.
