Girls hit Belles for 17

The Under 15's travelled to 3rd placed league one Beecholme Belles in the 2nd round of the Surrey League Cup . Unfortunately the hosts were no match for Denham and were unable to compete with the standard of football Denham produced. Within a minute of the kick off Katie R who was Denhams player of the match put through a superb cross (her first of many) to Jessica who vollied the ball past the keeper 1-0 Denham. Some good passing play starting from the back from Chloe To Charlotte To Katie A who passed to Katie R who crossed the ball over again but was knocked out for a Denham Corner. Kayleigh stepped up to take the corner and Annie and Gina went up to try and make a difference. This worked as Annie who was left unmarked jumped up and headed in the first of her 3 goals. 2-0 Denham. From the Beecholme kick off the girls intercepted the ball , Again another good move saw Charlotte find Katie A , she in turn laid the ball off down the line to Katie R who once again crossed the ball into the box , the ball was received by Kayleigh who powered in the first of her 4 goals. 3-0 . Minutes later a handball saw Denham awarded a penalty, Katie A made it 4-0 when she stepped up to convert it and score the first of her 4 goals.

The game continued Denham dominating every area of the pitch from the defenders through the midfield to the strikers playing some lovely football and one twos up and down the pitch. Gracie was kept very quiet in goal as the Denham girls retained the majority of the possession. The girls were awarded 3 corners in quick succession which Beecholme found it impossible to deal with and the girls persistence finally paid off when Annie once again got her head on the ball and fired it past the keeper. 5-0 . Beecholme tried to find a way through but were met by tough opposition in the Denham defence which included Annie Chloe and Gina . Denhams Midfield dominated their area, A ball to Jess saw her run down the wing and cross over to Katie A who ran with the ball and shot but it just went past the post. Katie R had a shot on goal when she received the ball from the middle of the park but the keeper saved it. Charlotte got on the score sheet (her first of 2) when she got on the end of a corner ball again from Kayleigh and fired past the keeper. 6-0 . Good work from Julia and both Katie's saw some nice confident football being played. When Beecholme did try and get through Jess chased back and put the ball out for a corner. The Beecholme girls didn't give up and on a lucky break and against the run of play were able to get past the defenders and to score their only goal 6-1.

Kodi and Alketa came on and within minutes were involved in the play. Alketa put a good ball through to Kayleigh whose shot just went wide. Moments later Kodi intercepted the goalies kick and knocked the ball forward . Play continued with good work between Gina and Chloe passing along the back then forward to Kodi who in turn found Katie R . In another move Kodi crossed the ball to Julia who vollied the ball in to make it 7-1. The ball continually found a Denham player , Alketa won the ball off the Beecholme midfielder and passed to Maddie who travelled through the middle and knocked the ball over to Julia on the wing. One more goal followed before half time , this time Katie A scored an individual goal when she ran through the middle turned round a player shot and scored 8-1 Denham.

SECOND HALF.

The second half was a repeat of the first half , Chloe , Gina and Annie were solid at the back and as a result Beecholme only got through once in the whole of the second half from a long ball but Gracie didn't have to worry as the shot went wide. The girls dominated the whole of the half and this time a further 9 goals found their way through to the back of the net. Gina got her name on the score sheet with a header from another Kayleigh corner. After yet another corner saw a scramble in the goal mouth and Annie got her foot on the end of the ball to claim her hat trick. Kayleigh scored 3 more one of which was a great flick after receiving the ball from Jess. One was assisted by Alketa and Katie R completed the assists for Kayleigh. Alketa herself got on the score sheet when she cleverly lobbed the keeper and Katie A scored 2 more goals. Charlotte scored her 2nd after initially miss kicking the ball with her left foot and the defender blocking the ball but found its way back to Charlotte who scored. Jess had another attempt at goal when Maddie passed the ball to her, but her shot went over the cross bar. Everyone of the girls took their turn on the sideline including Gracie who made way for Annie to go in goal. Beecholme Belles played with great spirit and didn't let the score and domination of Denham get them down . Their Goalie also stopped the score from increasing. Player of the match went to Katie Riddington . Final Score 17-1.
