Dominate team performance earns ladies all 3pts

The First team travelled to Ashford Ladies today. Recent weeks has seen positive performances but luck and results not on our side. After the game earlier in the season where we was extremely unlucky to come away with a loss and a score that didn’t reflect the game we arrived In good spirits and ready to take the game to Ashford again.

The game started and early on we found ourself 1-0 down after a corner from the hosts fell to an Ashford player and poked into our net.
The Denham ladies reacted positively and played some excellent football keeping the ball well, being patient and creating chances. Out of possession we hunted the ball back and was aggressive showing a no nonsense approach to defending. Nothing complicated or fancy. Played the ball back to our keeper Lizzie or out for a throw when facing our own goal. Soon to win the ball back and counter attack. Defender Jo Torr on her return from injury dominated her space all game and made it difficult for anyone to get passed her.
Half time soon arrived and we agreed not to change anything tactically and to keep up the hard work.
Not long after half time Kayleigh Currivan was chopped down in the box leading to a Denham Penalty.
Kayleigh Stepped up and calmly smashed the ball home into the top right corner 1-1.
Denham Substitute Ellen Wardlaw came on for Tate Shacklett, and her pace was causing the defence nightmares. About 65 mins in from a superb through ball by Annie, Ellen cuts in and strikes the ball cleanly past the keeper to the top left corner 1-2.
The ladies seemed to grow in confidence and hunger and didn’t allow Ashford to breathe. Other then Ashford's goal they offered little to nothing in attack and spent most the time defending as we piled on the pressure with shot after shot.

A solid and perfect team performance and we look to build on this.
