Under 14's v's Croydon Borough

The Under 14's travelled to Croydon on Sunday and came away with their biggest win of the season so far with a 7-2 win. The girls dominated the game from the start and after two chances were missed a shot from defender Gina Lee hit the crossbar and rebounded of the Croydon Defender to give the Denham girls the lead they deserved. The Denham defence Charlotte Parrett , Reanna Isaacs Chloe Smith and Gina Lee kept the Croydon forwards at bay and dealt with anything that came in their way to ensure nothing got to goalie Gracie Perkis.
The Denham girls continued to press with the midfielders Kodi Spencer, Jess Stickley Katie Akerman and Maddie Vilday feeding the ball to the forwards Julia Thurauf and Kayleigh Currivan. More shots were denied by the Croydon goalie until some good play saw Currivan score Denhams 2nd.The second half started how the first finished with Denham this time playing up hill and against the wind pressing the Croydon Defence. Julia Thurauf got her name on the score sheet within a few minutes when she received a well timed ball from Currivan to make it 3-0. Croydon, then got a lucky break and scored to make it 3-1. The girls responded well and immediately made it 4-1 when Thurauf this time turned provider to set up Currivan for her 2nd of the match. The game continued all in Denhams favour and more goals followed with Currivan completing her hat trick and Holly Symons who moved from midfield to striker scoring twice to take Denhams tally to 7. Croydon didn't give up trying and in the last few minutes they scored their second to end the game 7-2 to Denham. All the girls put in a great team performance and player of the match was awarded to Kayleigh Currivan.
