Denham Under 14's v Ascot Under 16's

The Under 14's played host to League Winners Ascot Under 16's in a friendly at the Den today. The girls dominated from the start which took the older girls by surprise , the girls had 3 attempts at goal within the first 13 minutes and it wasn't long before Denham went in the lead when Julia Thurauf did a great turn and fired a shot passed the Ascot goalie. Ascot didn't give up and levelled the score 7 minutes later , but the game was sealed after Ascot lost a player to injury and Denham took advantage by taking the lead with a further 2 goals within 4 minutes of each other. This time a through ball from Charlotte Parrett saw Kayleigh Currivan get her first of two goals and a long range kick from Katie Akerman completed the first half 3-1 to Denham. With the second half under way, the girls continued to play some great football,playing from the back the girls had the majority of the possession. Time after time the girls tested the Ascot goalie looking for the 4th goal, including shots from Jess Stickley , Katie Akerman and Kayleigh Currivan . The defence consisting of Charlotte Parrett Chloe Smith Annie Walsh and Gina Lee held their line very well giving keeper Gracie Perkis very little to do. Midfielders, Katie Akerman, Jess Stickley, Holly Symons Maddie Vilday and Kodi Spencer controlled the midfield, putting balls through to Currivan and Thurauf .The girls hard work finally paid off when Kayleigh Currivan received the ball 30 yards out and lobbed the Ascot keeper to secure the win. All the girls stepped up and played some great football in preparation for their long awaited Middlesex County Cup Final against local league Rivals QPR on Sunday 10th May @North Greenford F.C K.O 4.30pm.
