Denham too strong for QPR

UNDER 14'S V QPR CAPITAL GIRLS CUP FINAL WON 3-0

The Under 14's faced local league rivals QPR in the Capital Girls Cup Final on Sunday 10 May 2015 @ North Greenford F.C. and picked up their first silverware of the season with an impressive 3-0 win.

The girls started off very quickly and within 3 minutes tested the Qpr keeper when a shot from midfielder Katie Akerman just went wide of the post. The girls continued to press with the midfield, consisting of Maddie Vilday , Jessica Stickley, Kodi Spencer and Akerman dominating the centre of the field, putting balls through to strikers Julia Thuruaf and Kayleigh Currivan. The pressure worked as on 20 minutes a fantastic through ball from Maddie Vilday to Currivan saw her fire home the first of the Denham goals 1-0. Twelve minutes later Currivan turned provider this time knocking the ball over to Julia Thuruaf who calmly headed in Denhams 2nd of the match. The second half started with QPR testing our Goalie Gracie Perkis within minutes, however Perkis stopped them finding the back of the net. The Denham girls battled on with defenders Charlotte Parrett, Gina Lee and Chloe Smith standing strong in defence, winning everything in the air and chasing everything back , ensuring the QPR strikers didn't get through .As the game went on QPR tried to find a way through but even with 2 superb strikes from the Qpr midfielders couldn't find the back of the net as Denham's Gracie Perkis made 2 top class saves in quick succession to keep Denham Ahead. With the trophy in their sights the Denham Girls continued to play some great football, passing the ball around the pitch. Reanna Isaacs had a shot on goal and with minutes to the final whistle Kayleigh Currivan scored her 2nd of the match directly from her corner kick. The match ended 3-0 to Denham. Gracie Perkis was deservedly awarded player of the match for her outstanding saves from the Middlesex officials. However, the whole team put in a remarkable team performance and on the day thoroughly deserved their win. Team: Gracie Perkis, Charlotte Parrett, Gina Lee, Chloe Smith, Katie Akerman, Jessica Stickley, Maddie Vilday, Kodi Spencer, Reanna Isaacs, Kayleigh Currivan and Julia Thurauf.
