Girls play in their first competitive 9 a side league game

The U12s played host to Meninas at The Den in their first competitive league game in the Herts League on Saturday. After good performances in their pre season games the girls were looking forward to kick starting their new season on a bigger pitch. Meninas started strong but good team work from the girls kept them at bay. However , after 20 minutes they took the lead with a controversial goal and just before half time a great strike gave them a 2 nil lead. After half time we quickly pulled a goal back from Ava Lyon to make it 2-1. During the game we were unlucky with a few of the decisions not going our way but the girls didn’t let this affect them and they carried on fighting till the end. We were very unlucky not to convert some of our chances and were unfortunate to concede 2 further goals just before the end of the game . They’re playing some really good football, I’m really impressed and looking forward now to the rest of the season; we move on to the next game next week away to Evergreen.
