Girls put up a great fight with just 8 players

The u12s played Evergreen Phoenix away today, travelling with just 8 players. Going in we knew it was going to be tough being a player down but the girls showed great fight and determination throughout the game and didn’t stop running or fighting the whole match. Although all the girls were brilliant, Daisy and Bella had stand out performances in defence and in the middle of the park. A couple of unfortunate errors meant we went in at HT 3-0. It was unfortunate as the girls, collectively were playing so well . Second half we were stronger as a team and we cut the mistakes out and did look really good going forward , with Abbie, Chloe, Ava & Sofia pushing on and as well as Miley ,Daisy and Bella controlling the back. There were some fine saves from Ellie too! We even went down to 7 at one point (still against their 9!) . Only one goal was conceded in the 2nd half, which came from us switching off for a moment and not tracking players so all fixable. We should’ve had a penalty too in the 2nd half as it was a clear and obvious handball but was not given. The final score didn't reflect how well the girls played and on another day the score-line would of been different. Overall so proud of the girls today and they should be proud of themselves as they never gave up and were unlucky not to get a goal, A very positive team performance.
