Our under 13s played at home on Saturday against Wormley Rovers in the league cup. This was always going to be a tough game as we only had 7 players against 9, so it makes me immensely proud to write about the game. The first half we battled hard and really maintained our shape, we had the better chances but found ourselves 3-0 down at half time. The 2nd half the girls really dug in, kept to the game plan and completely out battled Wormley. We got back into the game with a wonderful strike from Megan Atwell and all of a sudden the belief and confidence just grew and grew. At full time we’d pegged it back to 3 - 3, so on to extra time. During extra time we got the winner and held out, every player showing amazing determination to keep Wormley at bay. Today’s performance was outstanding and I could not be more proud of the girls, the effort, determination, resilience and desire to win was unbelievable, but what pleases me most is our football continues to get better and better in every game and the girls thoroughly deserved their win. Megan Atwell scored all 4!
