Girls share points in 8 goal thriller in first game of the season

The U13s played their first game of the season on Saturday against Harefield. Being promoted into the division above we knew that it could be a bit of a challenge and our opposition turned out to be a very good team. The girls however started very strongly and moved the ball around nicely, opening up areas and creating plenty of chances which we were very unfortunate not to convert. We went 1-0 up from a amazing run from new signee Zuhal who took the ball around 4 players before finding the back of the net. Then a long throw in found Ava’s feet which she smashed into the goal. We were really unlucky to concede from a free kick right on the half time whistle so we went in at the break at 2-1 up. Harefield came out strong and within the first 5 minutes of the 2nd half we found ourselves 3-2 down, however shortly after we found the back of the net again to make it 3-3. Playing on what must be biggest 9 aside pitch we were getting tired and in the last few minutes , we conceded another unfortunate goal. However quick reactions and a switch from one wing to the other followed by a great cross into the box enabled Zuhal to complete her hat trick. The game finished 4-4 and it was a very good game of end to end football from both teams. Very pleased to the start we made but think we were unlucky not to get the 3 points.
